Sustainability / Durability

NATU is designed on 3 pillars of sustainability.

1. Materiality

The mission of the NATU brand is rounded sustainability. This means that all raw materials are procured exclusively in Croatia, with the FSC certificate as a guarantee of sustainability, and the final production is handmade. As a rule, when the log starts to be processed, there are no automatic production lines, but everything is processed by hand, in the initial phase with hand saws. Every rounding of the table is human work, and all irregularities are either retained or corrected, also by hand. As the last part, natural linseed oil is used to give the oak its natural color, and in every part of the production, we try to maintain its naturalness. About thirty hands of our long-term and creative employees transform what was created by nature into useful creative work.

2. Longevity

Concerning sustainability, one of the wood furniture sector’s central points is the product’s durability. Our supply chain in particular is focused on durable products that the consumer can use for a very long time, so contributing positively to reducing the environmental impact of an object.

3. Timeless design

The natural harmony found in Japandi style owes a lot to Denmark and Japan’s long-held cultural links. It is a relationship of ascendancy that began over 150 years ago when Danish architects, artists and designers began travelling to Japan in search of new inspiration.

They were among the first Westerners to visit the nation that had only recently lifted its 220-year closed border policy. Many believe traces of that early Japanese influence can be seen in today’s Danish ceramics, furniture, open-plan architecture, and minimalism. The admiration is mutual, with Danish design being sought after throughout Japan for many decades. Then there is the nations’ shared respect for artisans, craftsmanship, and natural materials, primarily wood. Both Japan’s philosophy of ‘wabi-sabi’ and Denmark’s ‘hygge’ depend on a deep appreciation for simplicity. Minimalism is essential to a Japandi-styled room.
