Maintenance
First things first, cleaning:
To clean your table, you will only need a clean cloth and water. Here are the three most important steps for cleaning:
1. Clean the piece with a cotton cloth slightly dampened with water.
2. Dry with a dry cloth.
3. If deeper cleaning is necessary, dissolve a little neutral detergent in water. Moisten the cloth with this mixture and pass it over the piece. Then go back to step 1.
(Very) Important!
Do not use abrasive products such as soap, sponge, steel wool, etc.
Do not use furniture polish, chemical oil, chlorine-based products, alcohol or any type of disinfectant or remover. The use of these products invalidates the part warranty.
Avoid leaving wet objects, such as glasses, bowls and vases, or hot objects, such as pans and dishes, directly on the item for a long period. Some products such as wine and sauces can stain the wood.
Avoid exposing the furniture to the sun, as this reduces the durability of the finish and causes changes in the colour and texture of the piece. Parts exposed to the weather require more frequent maintenance.
What about damages?
Firstly, you must identify what type of finish was given to your piece. Below, see the most common types and, if you still have doubts about the finish of the piece purchased, contact us!
Types of minor damages
Moldiness
Suppose your piece has moldy parts. Once it’s dry, follow the steps below to make it look like new.
1. Using a kitchen sponge, on the rough side, scrub the wood using detergent and water. Movements must be made in the direction of the grain.
2. Remove the soap with a damp cloth.
3. After cleaning, let the piece dry completely for 24 hours and reapply the oil as described in the “Maintenance”.
Scratches or watermarks
If your piece is scratched or has watermarks, when it is clean and dry, use the following steps:
1. Lightly sand the area in the direction of the grain with No. 400 sandpaper or a sponge with the rough side, until the scratch or mark disappears;
2. Pass a dry cotton cloth over the item to remove dust.
3. Reapply the oil as described in the “Maintenance” section.
Off Tone
If your piece has a faded colour, the recovery procedure is simple and it only takes 2 steps:
1. Clean the piece with a cotton cloth slightly dampened with water and dry.
2. Reapply the oil as described in the Maintenance section.
